Arrival Information

For LOWq-03 Workshop Participants

From the Airport to Downtown Hotels (including the Workshop Hotel: the Lord Nelson Hotel and Suites):

Ø     A shuttle bus service is available from the airport to all major downtown hotels (including the Lord Nelson Hotel).  The shuttle bus
leaves from just outside the baggage claim area of the Halifax airport (easy to find since the airport is relatively small!); tickets are
purchased from a counter just inside the airport near the baggage claim area; the shuttle leaves roughly every 30 minutes (but the
exact frequency depends on the time of your arrival – you can inquire about how long you will need to wait for the shuttle at the
ticket counter).

Ø     Taxis are also always available (at a greater expense) just outside the baggage claim area.  The cost for a taxi could be in excess of
$40, since the aiport is located about 20km outside of the city center.

Information packages:

Ø     Will be available at check-in for participants staying at the “Workshop Hotel” (the Lord Nelson Hotel and Suites)

Ø     Will be available at registration (at Saint Mary’s University) for all other participants.

Registration (and Payment of Fees):

Ø     Will take place at Saint Mary’s University, just outside of the Conference Room, starting at about 8:15am on the first morning
(Wednesday, July 16), and lasting throughout the first day.

Location of ALL TALKS (and REGISTRATION):

Ø    At Saint Mary’s University: Room 255 of the Sobey Building.

Ø    The Sobey Building of Saint Mary’s University is located adjacent (south side) to the “Main Entrance” of Saint Mary’s University,
directly off of Robie Street.  Some “LOWq” posters/signs will be posted along the sidewalks and roads nearby to Saint Mary’s to assist
you, and directions will be easily obtained from any of the hotels.  (A map will – hopefully! – be placed on this webpage soon!)

Ø    This is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Lord Nelson Hotel and Suites: simply walk south down South Park Street (the street that the
Hotel is located upon) until you reach Inglis Street; turn right (west) on Inglis and walk until you reach the corner or Robie Street;
turn left (south again) on Robie.  The Main Entrance to Saint Mary’s University will be on your left as you walk, and the Sobey building
is at the far (south) side of the main building complex on Robie Street.

Ø    NOTE: THE FIRST SESSION STARTS AT 9:00 AM ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 16.
