Food and beverages will be provided at all coffee breaks and lunches for both the MOST and BRITE Meetings.

The University is undergoing a lot of construction. As a consequence access to many of the buildings is limited. Please enter the Science Atrium from the Inglis Street side or the Tower Road side. See Map 3.

The Banquet will be held at Chives on Tuesday June 1 at 7pm. See Map 2.

Weather

The weather is typical maritime weather. Expect fog, rain, wind, and sun. Temperatures will range on average from 5 to 18. I strongly advise bringing a wet weather coat (with hood or a hat), a sweater, and water resistant walking shoes. Due to the wind, umbrellas are not very useful in the rain.

I have not arranged for any local transportation as distances between hotel, University, and restaurant are not too great (1 to 2 km).

Meeting Location

The MOST and BRITE meetings will be held in our new classroom, Science Atrium Room 305 (A305). A Wi-Fi will be set up to give internet access. The room has two video projectors, whiteboards, and an overhead projector for transparencies. The Atrium connects the Science Building with the Library. The Astronomy Department offices and classrooms are located on the third floor.

Because there are no near by restaurants, coffee, tea and desserts will be provided during the morning and afternoon coffee breaks along with sandwiches and such during the lunch break.

Arrival

Canada

Visitors to Canada will probably go through customs at the first airport they arrive in Canada. Normally, you will get off the plane, collect all your luggage, pass through customs, drop off your luggage, then proceed to the gate for your next (connecting) flight (domestic).

Halifax Airport

The airport is small, only one terminal.

There is a kiosk at the airport where you can exchange money. Coins are used up to and including $2. Paper money exists in 5, 10, 20, and 100 dollar denominations.

Take a taxi or a hotel shuttle bus to the Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax (or wherever you are staying). The taxi rate (fixed, one-way) is approximately $53.
